My Landscapes 3

March 20th, 2008 Sid

Continuing on the Landscape series, I want to present this oil-painting I made. It is the copy of an old Van-Gogh I found in the Great Artists series.

One interesting thing about the great man was that he was active as a professional full time painter only for the last 10 years of his life. During this time he produced more than 900 paintings and 1000 other works. Another thing that stuck me was that he became mentally unstable during the later years of his life, but in spite of that he produced some of his best works during this period. He perhaps was the best known impressionist painter ever, and his works like the ones shown below are perhaps the most famous impressionist paintings ever.

The Starry Night, June 1889 (The Museum of Modern Art, New York.)Self-Portrait 1887
Vase with Twelve Sunflowers, August 1888 (Neue Pinakothek, Munich).
This great artist committed suicide at the age of 37 after a brief period of mental illness. His achievements remain unrivaled even today.

CRY stands for “Child Rights and You”. It is a non-profit organization devoted towards improving the living conditions of millions of children across India. This banner has no commercial purpose at all.
